Overview

Allen Neighborhood Center (ANC) is a non-profit organization that serves as a dynamic hub where Lansing Eastside neighbors access resources to improve their wellbeing, job opportunities, and create a strong sense of belonging to build a safe, sustainable, and thriving neighborhood.

The redesign of ANC’s website focuses on transforming a decade-old site into a responsive, accessible, and user-friendly digital hub for the Lansing Eastside community. Working within ANC’s brand guidelines, the website now has improved readability, optimized navigation, and rich visuals integrated into the site to showcase the vibrant Eastside community and local initiatives.

The new site includes an e-commerce platform for the Veggie Box program to enhance the backend workflow and a CMS-driven structure, all built without custom code to ensure long-term sustainability for ANC staff without technical and web development knowledge.

Goals

To modernize the website’s visual identity and layout through curated imagery and storytelling to reflect ANC’s current mission and branding
To improve overall site readability and user experience across all devices
To ensure accessibility compliance, including alt text, clear structure, and inclusive visuals
To migrate content to a no-code platform (Wix) to allow easy updates by non-technical staff

Using CMS to manage content

Vendors at ANC’s Farmers Market are constantly changing, introducing new local vendors to the community and the return of well-loved vendors. Utilizing CMS to manage the content allows non-technical staff to constantly update the information.

Veggie Box (e-commerce)

Previously done on Google Forms to manage Veggie Box subscription, the new e-commerce site allows staff to easily manage orders and subscribers to easily manage their subscription and learn more about the food they are consuming.
