Project Overview

The AIGA DEC Design Educators Survey Website was developed based on the survey conducted with graphic design educators in the United States. Survey results obtained were analyzed and visualized, focusing on four main areas – people, job, place, and journey.

I was brought on to this project to analyze and develop the graphics and visual language of the site based on the research findings.

Goals

To present insights and cultivate a community that collaborates to elevate the standards, relevance, and impact of design education, while also amplifying the appreciation and understanding of the critical role of design educators.

Website

The website is a collection of visualizations with survey snapshots to highlight key insights. Each section is assigned a color to differentiate them.

The People

The People looks into who the design educators are and their motivations to be educators.

The Job

The Job explores their job title, job scope, and challenges.

The Place

The Place focuses on where design educators studied and where they work.

The Journey

The Journey of four academic personas were developed to understand how they evolved into the design educators they are today. This exploration aims to comprehend their career trajectories.

Three of these personas were derived from survey data, while one is speculative, formulated based on our observations and insights into the trends and demands within the academic community.
